The biblical passage where it states that an angel has the key of the abyss in
Revelation 20_1 "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key 
of the bottomless pit. and a big chain in your hand. "
Shortly thereafter,

(Revelation, Rev 20: 2),He seized the Dragon, the ancient serpent, which is the Devil or Satan, and imprisoned him for a thousand years.

The word ´abyss´ or abyss came from the Latin ´abyssi´ which came from the Greek ἄβυσσος which means 'bottomless' which in Portuguese means 'bottomless' the abyss was often seen as a prison for demons.
In Revelation 9:11, Abaddon is called "the angel of the deep."
