It is true that Jonathan loved David. It is there in the Holy Scriptures:
“Jonathan's soul was linked with David's; and Jonathan loved him as his own soul ”(1 Sam. 18: 1).
1 Samuel 18:1 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. (1Sa 18:1 WEB)
2 Samuel 1:26 "I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; You have been very pleasant to me. Your love to me was more wonderful Than the love of women.

(as found throughout the Old and New Testaments.) David's strong emotive language expressed to Jonathan is also discussed to be similar to that of gay expressions.
